On Monday morning, April 14, 2014, the University experienced a widespread service outage. The outage was caused by a short circuit in the University’s single Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), which protects and conditions power to maintain the data center at 6045 S Kenwood. Upon shorting, the UPS did not properly switch to bypass mode, and power to the data center was lost, resulting in the shutdown of all equipment.
